In quick summary of works done: (a helpful list for next time - in five years, if we live that long!)
Depart Taden and arrival at Bassin Jaques Cartier 24/6/20
Lift out on the 25th July
- Day 1 Lift-out early pm and lowered upon six piles of three railway sleepers. 'Kartchered' the hull of all mud and loose dirt whilst it was still wet. The base plate was not touched. This height from the ground was perfect for doing work easily within reach.
- Day 2 and 3 - I fit the rudder with a new and stronger nut and bolt replacing one of the existing three which had worn out and had been the cause of some caution and concern before much stress was likely to be put upon it during the short sea trip from the Barrage Lock to Port St. Malo.
- .Removal of fenders and hull treatment with anti-rust solution and generally scraped where necessary.
- Day 4 and 5 Hull washed with grease and general dirt remover/solution (Super Proban) as recommended by the local Boat Co-operative.
- Day 6,7, 8 Application of 'blacking' Two coats throughout and a third coat on the water line including base under the engine room.
- Day 9 Preparation of the blue fender line and deck surrounds - using sander and various fittings to create a key to the existing blue paint. Patch filling with grey undercoat where necessary then ubder-coat all round..
- Day 10, 11 Undercoated both sides and stern. Very quick drying stuff and looked good for top coating.
- Day 12 and 13 Top coating all round with Mouritius Blue top coat. Rain stopped work conveniently at close of play - just in time.
- Day 14 Clearing up and drying ready for lifting in PM.
- Day 15 Depart mooring at 8.30am for the return epic journey.
