I am writing this blog early on Monday morning (30th October), in my dressing- gown. Lucie and both dogs are still asleep. A cup of tea is at hand and the Jotul woodburner has miraculously come back to life. Our floating home is warm and very comfortable. It is still dark outside but I am now aware of Briare, the town we have chosen for our winter mooring, coming to life with noisy dust carts and early commuter traffic. It's those motorbikes which make that specially French sound.
This is our third day here having "steamed" in on Friday afternoon. Sally and Bruce, old friends from Suffolk, have been with us for a week's holiday and left by train on Saturday. "A jolly week" would be an understatement and we will need some time to recover.
For those interested at all in our welfare and general goings on, we will be adding to this blog every week at least. I have yet to learn how to insert a photo or perhaps a cartoon to make it all frightfully entertaining.

Several weeks after promising you (avid blog readers) of at least "weekly updates", you have to realize that we are not at all proficient at using this blogging thing and I am still having difficulties in inserting photos and maps. What I can say is that when, with practice, we get the hang of it, it will be fantastic!
Since last posting a blog we've been visiting our ex solicitor friends, the Seviers, in the South of France for a week - near Fayence, near Nice - and have just got back (Monday). That TGV railway system is fantastic. From Migenne to Marseille in just over 3 hours of "whisperingly quiet train" with our two boys, Spud and Teds, who behaved perfectly throughout and similarly on the return journey.
