Words cannot really describe the wonder of this lovely ancient, island monument and Abbey. A history dating back from 709AD to today with scaffolding around it's highest pinnacle - the statue of Saint Michel now under repair. (this picture of the Saint-Michel pinnacle shows how it should look after reparations)
Click on these unique photos for a better view. (My sister Judy and I are seen here listening to the excellent audio commentary, having been to the highest allowable point in the Abbey itself.)
We visit on the 25th April 2016, just after lunch - there were a tolerable number of fellow humans sharing this experience but we shudder to think what it would be like during the high Summer season.
