We plan to be in Taden for at least some of the summer season. Our friends Rosie and Hubert live in the village and are an important part of a group of other friends - and so on........Going south from our spot we reach the port of Dinan by barge in about 45 mins (10 mins by car) whereas if we go north from this same spot, towards St. Malo - downstream (30 mins by car) - we come firstly to the small port of Lyvet - and the last lock (le Chatelier Ecluse at Lyvet) before getting into the estuary proper - which takes us a mere 30 mins by barge - this is where we can pick up fresh water, say once a week, depending upon how much we have washed.
There are no services at Taden (Click here to see photos) but.... oh how beautiful and interesting it is! We love it.
or here for details and photos of our JUSTAPUB brewery
Should I be changing our anodes to suit the slightly brackish water? We'll have to seek advice and probably hang some aluminium anodes over the side whilst moored here. (bright idea is to hang one of Lucie's aluminium pans over the side, connected electrically to the hull - does it work? we shall never know but that's what we've done anyway!)
Our three solar panels and our generator are put to good use and candles are a delightful essential "means of light" at night. How romantic is that?
By some enormous bit of incomprehensible technological brilliance, we can now get a wifi signal through our Iphone by "internet sharing" to this computer and also to our Ipad.....that is ...as long as the telephone signal is strong enough and consistant enough to allow a connection to the world at large. Some times this signal does fail us, for reasons which we cannot explain! But so far so good and here I am posting this blog to prove it!
Our newly acquired Zodiac, tender to Body and Soul, (named Tenderly after the song) is shown below from the moment we relaunch it. It was kindly given to us by friends Rob and Karol who know better now, that it never is plain sailing...and have, wisely, gone back to life ashore. As you can see, I really haven't got the hang of it yet!
<Another birthday present for Lucie's 70th!
and it never is plain sailing of course!
