- We had such a marvellous trip up this estuary from St. Malo to our present mooring at Hede-Bazouges, that Lucie and I are vaguely planning to explore it in greater detail - taking in some of the many villages and ports on either side. To do this, we will probably have to tie up on existing buoys and paddle ashore using some kind of rubber tender which we haven't bought yet.
- Is there anyone out there with a small rubber tender for sale?
- The idea is great but it is tidal and we have to avoid running aground .....and then there's the salt water issue which might involve damage to our fresh water "sacrificial anodes" (magnesium) unless there's another way of avoiding this, like hanging new salt water anodes (the zinc kind) over the side, in the hope that this would fix the problem.
- I need advice! Any "wise-guys" out there?....and what about fresh water - maybe that is not possible to filter through our filtration system? There's lots to consider!
- Perhaps we will just steam past Dinan, stopping for a night, then go down as far as the Chatelier Lock at Lyvet - north of this lock is regulated by the Rance Maritime authorities; it is definitely tidal, with some dangerous rocks and currents and one has to be aware of the tides. That's a voyage of about 42 kilometers (84 there and back). Maybe that will do for a jolly good holiday - but it isn't all plain sailing y'know....
